Model Highlights

The Chevrolet Express Passenger Van comes in mid-duty 2500 Series and heavy-duty 3500 Series models. There are also regular (135-inch) and extended (155-inch) wheelbase versions, with seating space for eight, 12 or 15 people. Towing is also a strength for the Express Van models, with trailer ratings ranging up to 9,900 pounds. There are four different engines offered in the Express vans. Most of these vans come standard either with a 4.8L V8 that makes 280 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque or a 5.3L V8 making 310 horsepower and 334 pound-feet. Separately, there's a flex-fuel version of the 5.3L than can run on a fuel mix of 85 percent ethanol. And for those needing the most hauling power in a gasoline engine, the 6.0L V8 makes 324 horsepower and 373 pound-feet. Across the entire lineup, the Express comes with a 31-gallon fuel tank. On some models, a Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine that makes 260 horsepower and a tow-friendly 525 pound-feet of torque is available. The engine comes with a diesel particulate filter system and can start in temperatures as low as -20 degrees F without an engine block heater. All 2500 and 3500 models come with a heavy-duty 6-speed automatic. The Express has true body-on-frame truck construction, with a ladder-type frame plus tubular cross members for better torsional stiffness and tapered frame rails for safety. It rides on an independent front suspension and rear leaf-spring suspension, with a stabilizer bar in front and a locking rear differential available on all models. Steering is via recirculating-ball gear. And in all Express vans, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with dynamic rear proportioning adapt to loads and provide secure stops. GM's StabiliTrak electronic stability control also helps provide safety and prevent skids in sudden maneuvers, while all models include driver and front passenger air bags. Both of the Express 2500 and 3500 grades are offered in LS and LT models. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, auxiliary power outlets, a driver information center, and an AM/FM radio, while LT models step up to rear air conditioning, a rear auxiliary heater, remote keyless entry and power windows. Options include 6-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, remote start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and an improved audio system with CD and MP3 capability and a USB port. In all models there's a choice between vinyl and cloth upholstery. Options include a navigation radio, rear vision camera and ultrasonic rear park assist, with the rear vision view shown on the rearview mirror. 3500 models include various other upgrades, such as a higher-capacity battery and alternator, as well as a heavy-duty transmission with external oil cooler.
