Why Your Volkswagen Needs a Multi-Point Inspection
All vehicles need regular safety inspections to ensure safety and environmental features are working correctly. It's required in most states for annual registration purposes. Cars also need regular maintenance inspections to ensure they are performing as intended by the engineer. Multi-point vehicle inspections are when a technician checks different aspects of the vehicle to catch a problem before it causes a complete failure that can leave the driver stranded and cause much more expensive repairs that aren't in the budget. Some vehicle features of the vehicle are measured with tools and computer scans. The technician is also conducting a visual inspection for anything out of place.

Why Inspections Are Important Towards Ongoing Maintenance
The inspection involves checking things such as fluid levels, tire tread and pressure, properly functioning front and rear brakes, and even functioning headlights that are properly adjusted. Further aspects of an inspection can include making sure the filters aren't clogged, belts and hoses are in place without excessive wear, and can check to make sure the electric system is working as it should, and the battery is holding a charge. An experienced technician will then examine minor things the layman might overlook, such as the windshield wiper blades, and make sure the CV boots and joints are properly greased and don't appear to have excessive wear.
What Can Happen When Inspections are Skipped
The aspect of inspections that is important to remember is how they preemptively solve potential problems. Windshield wipers might not seem important until the driver is unable to see when it's raining and becomes a safety concern to other vehicles. Likewise, if the windshield wipers are so bad the metal parts are actually scratching the window, it's going to be far more expensive to replace the windshield than new wipers would have cost. That same concept applies to other aspects of the inspection. Once a part breaks, it puts extra strain on the surrounding systems, and what could have cost tens of dollars becomes hundreds of dollars worth of parts and labor. The parts that are being inspected were designed to wear out and be replaced. As such they have a relatively simple procedure to work on. The deeper parts they affect weren't designed with such procedures in mind, therefore require much more work to access and repair.
